EFFECTIVE DELIVERY OF SERVICES ASSURED WITH LAUNCHING OF DOLE CLINIC IN LAGUNA
DOLE CLINIC LAUNCHED IN LAGUNA. Dir. Ma. Zenaida A. Angara-Campita presenting an Overview of slated activities during the Labor Day Forum in Laguna.

As a fitting precursor for the Labor Day celebration, the DOLE Clinic was launched during the Calabarzon Labor Forum held at the City Auditorium in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna on 29 April 2017.

Sec. Silvestre H. Bello III conceptualized the DOLE Clinic as a mechanism that will “offer information, services, and referral to appropriate agencies on matters such as local and overseas employment, entitlements under general labor standards and occupational safety and health standards, labor relations, and livelihood assistance.”

Given the active union representation in the province of Laguna, it was an opportune time to present the latest brainchild of Sec. Bello in the agency’s efforts to bring its programs closer to communities toward immediate and effective delivery of services which was reiterated by his representative Atty. Maria Gloria A. Tango, Assistant Secretary for Labor Relations and Special Concerns.

The DOLE Clinic was conducted with orientations on the latest Department Orders as part of DOLE’s intensified Labor and Employment Education Services featuring D.O. 174 “Rules Implementing Articles 106-109 of the Labor Code, As Amended” discussed by Atty. Marissa Garcia, Mediator-Arbiter for the Bureau of Labor Relations; D.O. 131-B “Revised Labor Laws Compliance System” highlighting the timeline on the expeditious disposition of cases relayed by Regional Director. Ma. Zenaida A. Angara-Campita; and D.O. 170 “Implementing Rules and Regulations of R.A.10911 Otherwise Known As The Anti-Age Discrimination in Employment Act” presented by Laguna OIC Guido R. Recio.

Prominent labor organizations were represented in the Labor Forum including the Kilusang Mayo Uno, Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino and the Philippine Metalworkers Alliance. Workers from different sectors such as automotive, electronics, and transport were also present.

The event was concluded by an Open Forum with RD Campita addressing issues and concerns raised by members of several labor groups. She also shared some updates on the participation of representatives from Labor Organizations in the Labor Laws Compliance System. With the DOLE Clinic already in place, the public can expect persistent information campaign particularly learning sessions leading to meaningful discourses on DOLE programs and services.
