Cavite Celebrates World Day Against Child Labor
A scholar together with his mother signs the scholarship pledge of San Miguel Foundation, Inc. during the celebration of World Day Against Child Labor (WDACL).

Former child laborers from Cavite together with various stakeholders and program partners celebrated the World Day Against Child Labor (WDACL) on 11 June 2012 at San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corporation – Metal Container Plant, Brgy. San Francisco, Gen. Trias, Cavite.

This year’s celebration theme “Human rights and social justice... let's end child labor” highlighted that children’s rights are human rights and that should be protected.

Part of the celebration was the signing by San Miguel Foundation, Inc. of the scholarship  for the former child laborers. Together with their parents and guardians,  the children received college educational scholarship packages covering their tuition fees per semester, book allowance and monthly allowance.

For 2012-2013 school year, the San Miguel Foundation, Inc. granted the San Miguel Community Scholarship to the four (4) successful child laborers who intends to take up up Associate in Computer Technology (ACT), Bachelor of Science in Business Management (BSBM) and Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BS HRM) in the universities of their choice in Cavite. 

The said educational assistance will be able to change the lives of these children to have better lives in the future and gain freedom as victims of child labor.
